6:30pm Ag-Timber Parade
Beeman Park, Island City. 
Activities begin around 6:30 p.m. at The Beeman Park in Island City.
Line up begins at 6:30 p.m. on D Street, access by turning off Island Ave on to F Street.  The Parade Route will be Island Ave to McAlister.  The Parade begins at 8:00 p.m.  

Activities for the kids at the park and a variety of food, drinks, ice cream and goodies will be available at Island City Market & Deli


6:30pm Ladd Marsh Bird Festival
Blue Mountain Conference Center 404 12th St.
The Bird Festival kicks off with an evening gathering and registration event at the Blue Mountain Conference Center.  Register and receive passport with information directing you to staffed birding stations and other “birdy” areas. Register for Sunday’s field trips. 

At 7:00pm there will be music by The Odd Strings, light refreshments and no-host bar, plus a presentation by Gary Ivey, "Sandhill Cranes of the Pacific Flyway," starting at 7:30pm.  The event continues all weekend long, with guided birding tours, kids activities, and access to Ladd Marsh.

 All Day Eastern Oregon University's Indian Arts Festival and Powwow
EOU’s Quinn Coliseum, 1 University Blvd., La Grande, Ore
Powwow time is Indian people getting together to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships and making new ones.  This is a time to renew thoughts of the old ways and to preserve a rich heritage.  Eastern Oregon University powwows are a time to give thanks to friends and family for their help and guidance; as well as honor our graduates and recognize our alumni.  It has also become a tradition that we honor our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and anyone else who has taken part in raising us.

Oregon Book Awards authors Toni Hanner, Ismet Prcic and Carter Sickels will offer free writing workshops, followed by a reading and panel discussion with all three writers at 3:00 p.m. All events take place at the Cook Library in La Grande.
  • 12:00pm-1:00pm:  Fast-paced poetry workshop will focus on generating new first drafts.  For writers at all levels.  Taught by Toni Hanner
  • 1:00pm-2:00pm:  Writing Life As Fiction.  A writing workshop for fiction writers at all levels.  Taught by Ismet Prcic.
  • 2:00pm-3:00pm:  Starting the Big Project.  This workshop will help you kickstart your writing project.  Taught by Carter Sickels.
