Cove is a little slice of heaven located on the eastern edge of the Grande Ronde Valley, and is nestled at the base of 7,132-foot Mt. Fanny, which rises majestically just beyond our back door. The heavily-forested mountain provides a spectacular starting point for outdoor recreation, green in summer, gold with flaming tamaracks in fall, and snow-covered in winter. The Blue Mountains lie to the west, across a fertile agricultural valley and the meandering Grande Ronde River. The Grande Tour Scenic Bikeway goes right through downtown.
Known for our pastoral setting, we are a quiet residential community, perfect for those seeking the small town lifestyle, or just wanting to get away. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy a warm springs swimming pool. Two summer camps provide rustic or full amenity facilities for large gatherings.
The historic Cherry Fair is a celebration of our biggest crop, and not to be missed, with hot air balloon lifts, a parade, pancake breakfast, and family fun. In June, the town library hosts the annual Cove Garden Tour.
Cove has been a fruit production center for over 100 years. Today, approximately 500 acres of commercial orchards of mostly sweet cherries and peaches, grace the hillsides above town. Livestock production and processing, field crops, and small-scale produce growers make up the remaining farm operations.
