Alpine and Nordic skiing are among favorite winter activities in Eastern Oregon. With dry powder, short lift lines, and several hundred miles of groomed cross-country and snowmobile trails, Union County is a winter wonderland.
Anthony Lakes Ski Resort, at 7,100 feet, boasts the highest base elevation of Oregon's ski areas. With triple chair lifts accessing 21 downhill runs, skiers can enjoy slopes for beginners and advanced skiers alike, as well as backcountry skiing via snow cat Powder Tours. Ski Anthony Lakes also has over 37 km of groomed Nordic trails. I-84, exit 285.
Spout Springs Ski Resort offers 14 Alpine runs and 11 km of groomed Nordic skiing trails with lots of climbs, turns, and challenging slopes. OR 204, between Elgin and Weston.
Meacham Divide Nordic Park. Find outstanding scenery and 25 miles of groomed trails for skate and diagonal lanes. Backcountry skiing access on ungroomed trailed near the Sno-Park at Catherine Creek Summit. I-84, exit 243. Free.
