Agritours & Ecotours

Union County was first settled for its fertile soil and unique climate. Once part of a great inland lake, the Grande Ronde Valley floor is rich in nutrients, giving rise to a booming agricultural industry. Even today, agriculture continues to play a vital role in our way of life. With 880 farms county-wide, Union County is the state's premier producer of peppermint oil, Kentucky bluegrass for seed, and certified seed potatoes. We also grow many other crops in some of the world’s richest soil.

Small growers sell their produce at the twice-weekly La Grande Farmers Market from May through October, and many area restaurants purchase locally-grown produce and locally-raised meats, making your Union County dining experience truly farm fresh.
